The series consists of general subject files kept by the legal division of the office of Governor Taft. The series includes correspondence, memos, meeting agendas and notes, reports, news articles and publications. These records also include files that were carried over from the previous governor's (George Voinovich) administration. The Voinovich files largely date from 1991 to 1998, and are intermingled throughout this series. This series also contains the subject files of Legal division staff, including : Chief Legal Counsel William Klatt (1999-2002), Deputy Chief Legal Counsel James Tassie (2004-2006), and Chief Legal Counsel Judith French (2002-2004).
